The Hamsun center

The Hamsun Centre is a national centre representing Knut Hamsun, his life and his works. The centre is situated in Presteid on the island of Hamarøy. This is the landscape that Knut Hamsun grew up in, and which has influenced his work so strongly.
The Hamsun Centre is a homage to his work, light and nature. The centre may be described as a "centre of the senses". The sensation of light, architecture, literature and nature may be experienced here.
